About us

Who are we?

We are a married couple who had a crazy idea.  We are crazy, silly and most importantly, happy.  Especially when we are baking or delivering cake!  As with all great partnerships, we know our roles when it comes to cake.  The baker loves to bake!  The satisfaction of taking a perfect cake out of the oven is second to none.  But while the baker may understand ingredients and know their way around an oven, piping bags are a whole different story.  That’s where the decorator comes in, making the delicious cakes look as good as they taste.

 

How did it start?

Having discovered a passion for baking, we started taking cakes with us when we went to visit friends or family and realised that the joy other people get from homemade cakes is almost as great as from eating them yourself.  After some encouragement, the crazy idea of starting a home bakery was born.  Having moved house in 2021 the kitchen was totally renovated to make the ideal environment for baking.  We think we achieved that and hope that you can taste the joy we get from baking in every cake.

 

What do we do?

We have baked cakes for a 25th wedding anniversary and a work Christmas party.  We have baked over 100 cupcakes for a confirmation and a huge cake buffet for a family reunion.  We have baked surprise deliveries for friends when they were ill or having a bad day.  We have baked for the neighbours when they had family over for coffee.  Basically any excuse for a cake (as if you need an excuse for cake) is enough to get us into the kitchen.

We do not bake traditional wedding cakes, but we are more than happy to bake UNtraditional cakes for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, confirmations, baptisms, Christmas parties, or anything you can think of.  Even if you just need cake, because that's allowed.

 

What about ingredients?

We bake from our own kitchen and use ecological ingredients wherever possible, although sometimes we do have to compromise in order to keep our prices reasonable.  We try to use seasonal fruits and berries, ideally from our own garden.  It is not hugely productive (yet) but we are working on it.  We hope, in time, to be self-sufficient in blackcurrants, blueberries, strawberries and anything else we can get to grow.  We have apple and lemon trees planted from seed and hope that they will bear fruit before too long.  Our Raspberry bushes are currently trying to take over the world.

 

Future plans?

We constantly experiment with recipes, cakes, tarts, flavour combinations and other ideas.  The more cakes we can make, the more people we can make happy.
